  4. Separation: The condensed liquid settles and the essential oil naturally separates from the water due to differences in density. The oil is collected from the top, while the remaining aromatic water is collected separately as hydrosol, a usable by-product.

The entire cycle can take anywhere from 1 to 10 hours depending on the type of plant material, quantity loaded, and the extraction difficulty of the specific oil.
